I am still debating either talking our publisher into getting a Nikon D-200 or a FujiFinepix Pro S-5. Short of the bulky DX2 or the REALLY costly Canons, they seem to be some of the best DSLR's around that are well suported by housing manufacturers.

However, since both are Nikon bodies, the photos that we find interesting are the really close macro shots.

I know the 105mm is popular, but I have seen photos from the company that makes the flip down macro additions and the closeups are magnificent. We want to be able to fill up most of the screen with the head of an Imperator shrimp or pygmy seahorse so one can really see the details of the projections on the pygmies.

Opinions?

what ua re looking for is prob the 105mm macro with teleconvertors....check out wetpixel.com for some of these super macro shots.

Is the ID positive ?? Think the administrator should know abt it ...

Never tried going super macro on a DLSR before, but I knew some people who used an inverted lens to do greater than lifesize macro work .. very shallow depth of field though.

Cheers, Jeff
