Based on 1/1250s shutter speed, you can do it handheld. No need for tripod

Anyway, to ans the qns

No tripod was used for this shot

No speedlight was used except ambient light and a reflector. Even if I've to use speedlight at times, my D300 is set to FP & syc at above 1/320s
