YQ....I was part of a tour group and did not had the opportunity to see the outer fringes and hillsides of Xining.
But the flight from Chengdu into Xining offered me a view of the landscape that is vastly different from those in some of the agricultural provinces in China.
Likewise the trip to Qing Hai lake was akin to revisiting the vast prairies of Canada.
Btw....any pics to share of the areas you mentioned in Xining?
