After looking through Streetshooter's guide to B&W development. I have some question related to the usuage of the chemicals.
1. As for the developer, if i am not wrong, it cannot be reused right? (kodak D76)
2. When will we know the stopbath is exhaused? Is it that it will turn purple? or colourless? (Ilford stopbath)
3. As for the fixer, when will we know it is exhaused? I read that it can be reuse. But when i poured out of the developing tank, it is purple in colour. Can it still be reused? (Ilford Fixer)
4. The same thing goes for the HCA. It turns purple. Can it be reused? (Kodak HCA)
5. I soaked the negatives in the wetting agent at the last rinse and hang it up to dry. But i still see that there are some water spots after it dried up. Is it that i didnt use enough wetting agent? (using ilford wetting agent 3ml to 1litre of water) Or i must agitate the wetting agent with the film?

1. Most of the dev can't be re-use.
2. it will turn purple. but so far i havent seen mine turn.
3. Can use a piece of undeveloped neg and dip into the fixer to test it.
4. i dunno.
5. I had the same prob with u too. So what i do is mix two drop into the water and soak my neg about 20 secs. The spots were reduced and some negs are even spotless.

for your 5th Q,the mixture temperature should be between 20-25 to make the Neg spotless,I have no problem with wetting agent.I use Kodak wetting agent.

Use an undevloped negative to test the fixer. So after dipping, how would the undeveloped negative look like?

Do i need to use some sqiguee (dont know what is the correct spelling)? Also must i foam the wetting agent? The girl in ruby to me to foam it. But from Ansel Adams's The negative, they say dont foam the wetting agent.

Have another question. Since I am using the D76, should I make the stock solution and keep it? Or leave it in power form. It is quite tedious to have to always mix and mix the D76.

u mean the chopstick-like tool that u use to squeeze the water from ur neg? i used that before and scratches can be found on my neg, so i stopped it. so now i just use my finger, then hang in the film dying cabinet to let it dry.

No, i dun foam it either. i use put two drops and then run my neg (still in the reels) through it a few times and i'm done.

ur neg should look clear though. the amount of time needed to fix ur neg would be twice of the amt of time u did for the test.

Fixed untill the film have no purple colour, not to over fix the film, you have to try the time for each type of film.
