AVisual Account of the Last 24 Hours of 2002

Instead of attending the usual rounds of parties, are you looking for something meaningful to complete the last 24 hours of the year?

On the last day of the year, through the eye of the camera, portray life in Singapore in 24 hours.

This 24-hour photo event is organised by the "Normadic Eyes Collective", which is a gathering of people from various backgrounds with a common interest in retaining memories of this city. This collective comprises photographer Tay Kay Chin, dramatist Lim Jen Erh, reporter Ng Siang Ping, arts managers Wong Han Juan and Jeaner Toh, arts researcher Koh Nguang How, copywriter Liew Yew Choo and photographic artist Mary-Ann Teo.

The event has its origins in Penang, established in 1999 by Penang's Nanyang Folk Culture. In the 3 years of its existence, it has reached out to other Malaysian cities. Besides Penang, it presently includes the participation of Taiping, Ipoh, KualaLumpur, Malacca, JohorBahru and neighbouring Singapore.

Open to all, there are no restrictions to the kind of cameras used. Anyone who has a camera, with an interest in documentation through the eye of the camera and is willing to share his views is welcomed to participate. Beginning at 12.00am on 31 December 2002 and ending at 11.59pm on the same day, you may go anywhere at any time within 24 hours on Singapore to retain the traces of memories, all on 1 roll of negative. Let your views be expressed through the photograph.

Selected works from the event will be exhibited as well as published. Do submit your application for participation as soon as possible. Attached is detailed information and a registration form for your reference/use. (Chinese information available upon request.)

Yeah, not fair leh. The digital folk can shoot 3600 shots and edit down to 36. The film shooter, cannot. :(
