flu bug = virus = antibiotics useless.

rest. rest. rest. and hydration. that's about all you can do to combat the flu.

u mean there is no way out ?
you can medicate for the other symptoms, but not for flu itself. sorethroat? codeine/lozenges. mucus/phlegm stuck in the throat that can't be expelled? mucosolvan.

that's about it really.

and maybe Vitamin C supplements.

i had been eating vita c tablets and manuka honey to fight this bug, doctor said it only help to speed up recovery and boost existing immune systems, but it will not kill the flu virus, becos virus and germs are different living things. Flu has a cycle to run through, once completed one will recover. Doctor also said avoid CNY goodies for time being becos it will worsen it

yup that is right.

most viral infection require you to just let it run its course. hence the rest/rest/rest/hydrate mantra. trust me, your body could do with a lot more rest and fluids right now, than you being on clubsnap! ;p

under normal circumstances, excessive sleep is bad for the body, both physiologically and psychologically.

but since you aren't in a normal circumstance (ie, you are sick!), you really should rest more.

I sound like I'm nagging but this is the advice I am often on the receiving end of when I am down with the flu over in Australia. the emphasis is placed on resting and by resting they mean COMPLETE resting. gives your body a chance to fight it off without any hindrance from you, plus you get to sleep more on an otherwise sleep deprived day/week

sleep like never before for 4 days.
on the 5th day, feeling better already.
never went to see doctor except taking panadol flu tablets.
should have used up my medical leave before my contract ends...what a waste.

just go out and soak in some sun. the UV light from the sun can help to fight the flu bug.

thats the excuse I told my wife when I go out to shoot despite having flu, but it works at least for me.

u need to be extra careful. the period when u've recover from the flu is the period where u are the most vulnerable to re-attack. ie you are still very susceptible to it.
