Hi, I would like to know which combo lens pair with D500 will be the best ideal for traveling to Aus. for a 12 days trip with family.

Option 1: DX 18-300mm + DX 35mm

Option 2: DX 16-80mm, 70-300mm + DX 35mm

Together with SB400 flash & light duty carbon tripod (option AFD 20/f2.8lens).

Or other option.

Thank a lot

If you already have the Nikon 16-80, just run with it. It is an excellent lens that will probably take care of more than 90% of your shooting needs on holiday. I brought mine with the D7200 to Europe and am very happy with the results. My other 2 lenses (11-20 and 70-200) on the trip were used only occasionally. Of the 2, the 11-20 was more useful especially for indoor shots. If travelling light is a key consideration, the 16-80 is sufficient.

Enjoy your holiday.

I'd take the 20 and the 35 effectively giving you a wide and a standard at highest IQ possible and low light capability and then the 70-300 for long range...day to day carry would be the 20. That is me though and I have no idea what you plan to shoot.

18-300 is out for me...I do not like the performance of that lens at all.

I am not familiar with the 16-80 but if it is as good as the 16-85 then that maybe the best option for one lens carry.
