From what info I have dug up, both are "good" lenses.Of course the reality is you have to know at what settings each lens can perform optimally.

First 105 f2 dc: This are screw drive autofocus? Don't know if it has been updated for cameras without screw drive. Test report indicate vigneting at F2.Read for yourself whether it is still acceptable or not.Things will get better when you stop down? If you already have 85mm then people say it's similar? Got money not a problem right?

135mm f2 DC: Screw drive.. If using FF like D700 then a longer reach for street is better? People are shy? Another view is if you are not close then it is not close enough for street? Some say gorgeous bokeh..both lenses can focus close 105= 0.9M , 135= 1.1M so good
for children? PS i believe vignetting at F2 is less?

Have a look at 135 photo at end of page.

Be aware for 135 at F2 lens suffers CA (chromatic aberation) when shooting against the sun. but if you stop down to F2.5 -F2.8 it improves or minimises. See below for example:

AS they say the longer the better...haha.;) Might consider longer lenses for outdoors too but more expensive.

Thanks for the useful info, Bro

Both are great lens. I've owned both and much prefer the 105/2. Shooting 135/2 requires a lot of space ! Optically, both are very similar in quality. The build of the these DC lens are just amazing.

You can find a few of my sample shots here (Mainly the 105/2) https://www.flickr.com/photos/darkalfie/albums/72157645049078746
