Hi all,

Would greatly appreciate if someone can provide some advice on the below.

I am relatively new to photography but have done some readup in this forum. Currently I am trying to shoot kittens (very active ;)) indoors with average/ low lighting conditions (fluorescent light) without using any form of flash. I have tried Nikon D60 and Canon G9 and its kinda difficult unless I set to very high ISO. G9 just simply didnt make it (or maybe I am lousy ;p) while results are better for D60. The noise, however, is way too high for me to tolerate.

Just wondering whether there is any entry level DSLR/lens (preferably with live view) that perform well for shooting animals indoors without flash? Or maybe I should just pop a external flash and forget about all this hassle?

Thanks in advance for all the kind advice :)

If it's really dark, get an external flash and bounce it off the ceiling and wall behind you.
D60...if you can live with manual focusing, you can get a 50/1.8; Sigma 30/1.4 will allow AF with D60 but a few times more expensive.

what you need is more light

1. buy brighter bulbs
2. install more lights
3. buy an external flash
4. some or all of the above

or shoot during a bright and sunny day.

Use wide open large aperture lenses.

And they are best shot when they are half-sleepy after a meal... ;)
