(Admin Edited) Problem with getting locked out

Ok, I'm posting using another account because of problems with another (n0d3). Ok so here goes.

I was happily surfing when I suddenly realised I've been logged out, so I tried logging in again. And I immediately got an error where it said that I've used up my quota of login retries and therefore locked out for 15 minutes. I tried again after 20, failed. And I tried various other methods, clearing cookies etc. resetting my password. Desperate to contact some mods, I created another account (this) and the same thing happened after a while.

Then when I saw the email notification, I realised the IP that it stated was actually SCV's/Starhub's cache. So I used a proxy and viola I managed to sign in. So yeah, thats what I wanted to point out.

Admin Note: This thread is being used to collect feedback from all users who are experiencing this problem. Kindly add to the thread if you are affected. Appreciate everyones' patience while I try to ascertain the cause.

i expereinced teh same problem too..how do you rectify it? i somehow was linked back thru explorer to be able to use now..but other than that I am not able to log in again..

Hmmm are you on SCV as well? I used a proxy off a free list of proxies here:

Yes. Using SCV. Tried your tips. Works now. Any security issues using proxy? Its a strange problem though. Never encountered this before..

I'm not sure who provides the proxies for that particular site but I suggest not surfing anything sensitive with it.

really weird problem. I cant use Mozilla to log in only IE explorer. and now i have issues logging in MSN messenger as well..

can the mods take a look and investigate? I still cant log in with mozilla. does anyone know if my comp has been hacked in? thks.

Try using the proxy in Mozilla as well and clear your cookies. It should work as it did with IE on your computer. The IP address is the same as mine, its just Starhub's cache/transparent proxy. Nothing to worry about. The server probably just got confused as it sees it as a single person and having a lot of people using the same transparent proxy probably triggered it when a guy really did enter this password wrongly.

I had the same problem too.

Step 1 - Clear Cookies
Step 2 - Use Proxy
Step 3 - Log in (Click Remember Me)
Step 4 - Remove proxy
Step 5 - Happy using Clubsnap

Yes, I have also been hit by a similar bug that keeps telling me my account got stuck for 15 minutes. And I was wondering who'd be so bo-liao to sabo my account. :sweatsm:

This means tt I can log someone out/prevent someone from logging in by trying 5 times with invalid passwords?

I would guess so and it inconveniences everyone because the server sometimes mistakenly takes the transparent proxy's IP instead of the real IP of the culprit.

Hi Everyone,

I got lock out too, whole of last night. I panic, thought someone trying to bust into my account, until I read this post.

Tried whatever method stated here, use proxy, clear cookies, still LOCKED OUT.

Only this morning I managed to get in, without doing anything. Yes, like everyone here, am using Maxonline.

Is there anything Moderator can do to help prevent similar incidents repeating?

Life is not the same when you get locked out of clubsnap.

I also have similar problems too. That was a few weeks ago. I too am using Starhub SCV Maxoline. Not sure what is the actual problem though.

I have no problems as I remain logged in all the time as no one else has access to my workstation

I have been locked out for days ..... thanks to your response and other member's response.. all is sorted out...
