How can it be 50-50 when its the fault of the cyclist in the first place ... ?
If the taxi is at fault , then I think no need video evidence .. all motorist can dump their in-car record when they hit a cyclist.
If there are no dedicated bicycle lanes then this is the standard way of turning right. Similar to right turning cars, the cyclist has to wait till there is no oncoming traffic or the green arrow lights up.Why was the cyclist in the middle of the road to begin with? Some people are just begging to be creamed.

Call me bias...when it's involving a Taxi....its gonna be..50-50......it's bull to say we can't have cyclist on the road...many other countries have no problem for them to co-exist....we seriously need to look into driving behaviour and graciousness :flush:

8.—(1) The driver or rider of a vehicle stationary at or approaching a controlled intersection or junction of roads and wishing to turn to the right shall, as soon as the intersection or junction is open to the vehicle, move forward as near as possible to the centre of the intersection or junction and await a safe opportunity to complete the turn to the right.
(2) When turning the driver or rider of the vehicle shall proceed with due regard for the safety of pedestrians crossing the road.
ROAD TRAFFIC ACT (CHAPTER 276, SECTION 140)
Pardon me - Sense of self-preservation? The road is designated to be used by cyclists as well as car users, without any priority status given to anyone (although I have the impression this has not arrived at many car users mind). Respect, carefulness and graciousness are the baseline for sharing the roads.Pardon me - I would've thought if the cyclist had a better sense of self-preservation he would have considered using the pedestrian crossing first, or at least not trying to 'sidestep' the oncoming traffic. What on earth was he thinking? It's a shame he put the taxi driver in such a tough position and leave the poor uncle to pick up the mess though part of the fault is the latter's of course.

Speculations about the cyclist are pointless, he was simply wrong in crossing the junction the way he did. Period.

He thought he can out ride and out pace cars...
I think he left his brain at home.
he can sell his brain for good money, since he hardly use it.In that case, no brain damage ? :bsmilie:
