I will be venturing into Flash photography. Presently i have a canon 30D & will be looking to purchase a 430EX II Speedlite flash. (New or 2nd hand)
What are the accessories that will be important or rather you definitely need? For example, a blower, brush or cloth is important for cleaning yr lens. Thanks :p
Totally a newbie regarding flash

Batteries for the flash.

I would use a bounce card.DIY or just buy the Stofen Omnibounce. And good Sanyo enloop batteries too.

maybe another wireless trigger :D

or another dry cabi if you have storage limit for your goodies :D

Thanks, it is good advice to stock up on rechargeable batteries.
Any good recommendation for diffuser or bounce card?
I will be getting 1 flash @ the moment to try out since i am more of a landscape than an indoor person.

Search the forum for 'diffuser' and 'bounce card' - tons of information. You can start as cheap as tissue paper, go up with cheap Chinese copies of more expensive diffusers or go straight to some branded gear. If on budget you might want to add the key word 'DIY'. As ortega mentioned, anything that modifies light can be used - not to forget ceiling and furniture (-> bounce flash).

All sort of to soften ur flash, well depending on what u intending to shoot

COnsiderable factors like Indoor/Outdoor; Subjects; Focal Interest etc

Bascially for a start u need
1. back up power (batteries)
2. Diffuser (Stofen/Bounce Card - Look under Mass Sale Section!)

Advanced level as you build up on ur expertise will required : -
1. Lightstand
2. Additional Flash units (Slaves)
3. TTl Cord
4. Flash Brackets
And the list goes on...

Cheers
