How about displaying some of your portrait photos so that viewers of this thread can make a comparison before giving you their opinion? That way, they can provide you with more useful comments and suggestions.

ok, some childrens' portraits for comparison. the story is this. i like taking available light kids portraits. my friend saw some abstract shots and said 'i should be shooting abstracts, what am i doing shooting portraits' or something like that.

i don't really get why your friend said tat, but i think your portrait shots are nice. :)

More like patterns to me, but the kids photos are good...take both. What if I said you should take some insect close up ? Follow your heart.

thanks for all the comments. i've decided to continue posting some of my abstract/still/architectural shots here. for sharing and feedback.

I like the portrait shots, though personally I would have preferred the last shot (girl with bear) to be placed off-centre. There's a lot of negative space in that shot and I think it could be used to create more impact. Just my thoughts.

I find your portraits are better than abstracts.

i like the kids photos, nicely process in BnW

thanks.

more attempts...

yes i agree with you on the point that the photo will have more impact if she were more to the left, but i had some teddy bears and other stuff creeping into the frame - you can see some part of this at the bottom right.. had to crop. but thanks for the input.
