any idea whats the rationale behind for dropping CF cards for ultra compacts and compacts camera?

im using a95 and using cf card..if i wanna change to a new camera..means the cf card will be useless..

CF cards takes up more physical space and consumes more electricity.
The huge footprint limits design and internal body changes.

SD cards have a higher read/write speed on average.

CF card codes are open source but SD card codes are near open source (Inventor: Panasonic).

Anyway, mich4 your pics are good. The A700 is a capable camera but it all boils down to the photographer. I'm sure you can make such good pictures with any camera. :)

Keep it up!

Ah davsmiths, u r absolutely right in ur last statement - I was experimenting with the A700 to see what it can do - trying to push it to the limits (at least to the limit of my own knowledge). My conclusion is that it is a capable PnS and very easy to handle and use. And thanks for all ur comments. Appreciated.

hi "someone", thanks...and thanks for sharing ur pics too, very well composed, keep it up!

With this, we end the Pictorial Layman Userview of the Canon Powershot A700.
...then again it may just spring back to life...anytime

:) ;) :D

Nice.
I've been looking for a camera to replace my old A40, this might be it.
But it would have been better if it had IS.

nice pics.

how is the pic quality without IS fr A700 as compare to one with IS fr another canon powershot cam.

btw what is the size of the adaptor? 52mm?
