WONDERFUL PICS:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I am putting my hands onto sports too, manly becos of my kids (rugby)
I will be mounting a 300 AF4 on a D70. To add some distance I am contemplating adding a telecon between 1.4 to 2X older versions (non AF) to close in. Would it be difficult without the AF function for such sports photography? i have never used any telecon before...:dunno:

I will be very grateful for some tips:lovegrin:

For most, good AF performance is vital when using a telephoto lens due to shallow DOF.

I would have thought whether a lens would AF does not depend on the teleconverter - teleconverters are just glass without any moving parts.

Nice photos, you were one of those carrying big L lenses around?

I only took photos of the kids

Can't get close enough to the action, need to get a telezoom soon...

Nope, I'm using a 300 2.8, the big L lenses that you are referring are probably 400 2.8s used by press photographers / stringers for wire agencies etc.

Thanks vm for the valuable insight, much appreciated:)
