a Newbie question

Hi, been lurking around here for quite some time especially in the bns section.

I just want to ask what is a rangefinder camera? or is it a camera type?

Hi there,

a rangefinder camera is a camera that (as the name suggests) gives us the distance between the subject and the camera, like some distance measuring equipment. Photos taken from a RF cam is normally very sharp in focus. You can read more on Wiki, the RF cam is very boxy and the lenses are most of the time small in diameter.
