i don't think it was shot directly facing the sun, looks more like it was shot facing the water

if you use auto metering mode like P , A/Av or S/Tv should be fine ..

recompose without the shrub in the bottom right and it will be even better. Try cloning it out and see if you think its better.

Looks like water reflection to me...

But I really like this pic... See already dun really have anh idea if it's really directly at the sun or thru reflection...
