I've finally got a Canon S800 to replace my clogged Epson printer (My first Canon product!). I'll post detailed comments about it later but for one of my printouts, I printed a heavily cropped image that amounted to 160 dpi at 8"x11" (since my camera interpolates, the 'real' dpi should be 1/2 that at 80dpi)
The print was amazing. I now BELIEVE the claims that D30 can print up to A3

Actually, the modern inkjets are VERY good. I've printed 1600x1200 (2mp) files at 8x10 with great results too. And that's like 150dpi....
I printed a 3mp D30 file (converted from ISO 800 RAW) at 10 x 15" on an ancient Epson Stylus Photo EX. Brilliant. And it's not even Premium Glossy Photo Paper....
the actual pixel count (of the crop) was 1280x1794 (since the S2 is technically a 6Mp camera, this means that the image was 640x897 that was later upsampled to 1280x1794)
So, this means that a 640x800 image can print to 8x10... I really wouldn't have believed it until the print came out.
I interpolatedthe image further in photoshop (to avoid letting the printer driver do the work)
