This Chinese New Year 2014, witness the best Lion Dance troupes of Singapore and Asia Pacific during the 7th International Lion Dance Competition. Not less than 12 troupes from 10 countries will participate this year.

The Lion Dance is a tradition and often performed at business openings, important receptions, weddings and during Chinese New Year. The dance is seen as bringing prosperity, wealth and luck and takes many years of training in Chinese martial art schools. "Cai Ching", translated as "plucking the greens" requires a team costumed as the lion to reach auspicious greens hanging high in the air. It is in the meantime a recognized sport and shows off amazing stunts and awesome manoevers by very skillful and highly trained men.

The Soaring Lions Over Water is an exhibition match for fans, where vividly costumed lions playfully pivot high stilts performing audacious stunts above a specially designed water platform.

During Chinese New Year most Chinese businesses, restaurants, private households and neighborhoods arrange for such a performance. So if you don't get an occasion to watch it somewhere, this competition is the place to go.
