Hi all...might be getting this wonderful lens soon, but still pondering whether to get the IS or non-IS version as the prices are quite a difference.

I'm more concerned if i will to use this lens at night or wedding functions, can a non-IS do the job? I haven't use such a heavy and huge lens before so im also worried if my tripod can balance this + my 500D?

Will getting a non-IS + a monopod helps to solve the IS problem during low light?
