from my photostream above which do you think i will benefit from more?

do you think i need a the 18-55 or just stick to the 50mm?

please help :)

from the price you have posted. Of course option 2 is the best.

550D for $950 is a steal. and a 50mm 1.8 is only at most $110. So that made up $1060. $10 cheaper than 500D with only 18-55

500d comes /w 18-55 and 50mm for $1050 ...
still think 550d?

i think, the 500d is with 18-55 as well as 50 f1.8....

for me 50mm f 1.8 is not wide enough for crop sensor body, so probably the best option is to get 500D with 18-55 & 50 f 1.8 (don't think much difference between 550D & 500D)

like i mentioned. for $10 bucks more, you can get a better camera (in terms of specs) and a lens which suits your project.

I saw your photos, mostly are closed up shots, you will need a low F/S number camera. A prime 50mm lens is good. $110 for a 50mm F/S 1.8. Is gonna be worth it :D

:D
50mm only 110 :D
i thought 150 -_-
:) thanks for help :D
i'm still nt sure whether i'd need 18-55 as well :/

haha, i'm going to buy it soon and was offered at $110 ^^

hmmm.. if you're unsure, just go for the 18-55mm, is definitely gonna be safer :D

Currently i'm using 18-55mm, am going to buy the 50 mm real soon. Reason being i love taking close up shots, not exactly macros, and the prime lens do give a really good "bokeh" effect.

You should go have a feel of both cameras and lenses. Cause is your project that matters :D

hmmm yeaa :)
i mostly shoot at 50mm.. though :/
is 550d really a much better camera then 500d?

if you wan full HD 1080p video, 550D blows 500D totally out of the water.

the MP is not much of an issue.

hey! 500D can shoot 1080 HD video as well! it losses out to 550D by a few frames/secs. Actually, till today, i ain't very sure how to use the video function, the focus is a whole lotta B***h

below 24fps, the video starts to get rather jerky(actually i dunno how to describe it). if you dun use video, then it's ok.

when shooting video, go manual focus.

If I'm not wrong, 550D high ISO beats 500D high ISO by quite a bit.

vote for 550d coz of iso performance. totally want this body

i was choosing 550d,500d and Nikon D90 but i made the best choice of 550d.
Totally never regret, i newbie so i took the package. But if u know wat lens u want then go for 550d, good weight, good mid range cam
