300W strobes enough for home studio set-up?

Hey snappers.
Really need some expert advice here. I'm thinking of getting a lighting kit for my home studio.

I saw this $880 package at Ruby Photo. Comes with 2 300W strobes. Details here. And a few other stuffs, etc. 2 softboxes, softbags, light stands.

However, a friend of mind offered me his second hand set, with the Elinchrom Classic EL 500.
I understand that Elinchrom is a more reputable brand. Can I get some advice here?

1) Is 300W enough for a home studio?
2) Which option should I go for?

if your house is HDB, its enough for 300W. but if u bring to bigger studio, the lights can be only fill in
