Anyone tried using the lens on a D90??
It is a macro lens correct??
Tried looking up for reviews but cant seem to/dunno exactly where to find any..
Nikon webpage dosent even have the lens listed..

Saw alot of them at TCW, tot of getting one to use on my d90..

It's a just a old mid range zoom lens that takes in 62 filter.
It have macro mode though, with maximum Reproduction Ratio at the longest focal length (105mm) at 1:2.

No recommended for use in macro as i seen feedbacks on the macro mode switch, which is a pain to use and also corner softness as well.

Think it can still be use on D90, Metering and AF..

u are better off with a Tamron 90mm f2.8 or AFD 105mm 2.8 if u r constrainted by budget in ur hunt for a macro lens

It is a mid range zoom lens, will autofocus with the D90.

Of course note the crop multiplier when using on the D90

Its a zoom with a macro switch.
You get a 1:2 instead of 1:1 in the 60mm macro or the 90 mm macro.
As such it is not a true macro lens per se but if u dont need 1:1 then its a cheap lens to own. I paid $250 for mine used.

Hi curley-wurley,

The 28-205mm f/3.5/4.5D IF zoom Nikkor is a versatile lens. This was the first Nikon lens I bought (along with the F80s in 2001) and have used it almost daily for macro work. The macro quality is not the best, but is quite reasonable. The price and the zoom offers an added advantage.

The macro function works from 50-105mm only. The lens has a slider switch to put it into macro mode. The slider can be moved into macro position only after the zoom is turned beyond 50mm. Another problem with the lens is that it is not an AFS lens and will not AF with the D3000, D5000, D40, D40x & D60. It will work fine with the D50, D70, D70s, D80, D90, D100, D200, D300, D300s, D700, D1, D2 & D3 series.

just a noob question.... why do u need to get this lens if your kit lens is aleady a 18-105 (i'm assuming that's the kit lens that u would normally get with a D90)
