Price about US$9,999.00. ;)

That's a very good price, considering that the leaf /sinar backs costs close to $29k SGD.

Might be worth the while if pricing is closed to 1Ds MK II.

if price is abt SGD 20k.....i dun mind changing to a mamiya...sounds like a good deal to me..... :D

i find the viewfinder & the lcd display quite ugly ley...i would rather buy the 645AFD & then the back.....at least i can change to film when needed....

stupid question, do these backs have a some crop factor like on our DSLRs (less fulll framed ones)

Does this answer your question?

'Both the Mamiya ZD and the Mamiya ZD Back come with a 36x48mm, 22 Megapixel Full Frame RGB Square-structured CCD (effective number is 21.5 Megapixels) and generate professional high resolution images with very rich and smooth tonal ranges.'

Except, how is that full frame? The smallest medium format is 645, which is theoretically 6cm x 4.5cm, or 60x45mm, but in practice usually closer to say 56x41. The CCD size is 48x36... close but not quite full frame.

I am no in any way knocking the fact that the camera is 48x36. I think we need to break free from legacies about format sizes; digital sensors change the whole playing field. My views about 36x24mm are already well known.

Its MF setup n not LF..

Price est Euros10,000 = SGD20800

i still think the 1Ds (or 1DsMkII) would be a more versatile system for the money. But i don't shoot MF, so can't say for sure. But if you get a comparable range and number of lenses for both systems, i'm sure the price gap widens considerably.

The "full-frame" probably refers to a full-frame transfer CCD as opposed to an interline transfer device and not to the actual dimensions of the sensor.

Yeah, this is a MF camera....

Its interesting becoz..... the resolution of the MF and 35mm are converging in the digital arena. In the film days, this was limited by the film backs. Its either 35mm or 120 film. And that kept the 2 formats seperated. There will come a day when 35mm DSLR's resolution becomes as high as digital MF.

Which one you go for is anybody's game... ;)
