12th Feb : JB outing Special Edition -

What is 柔佛古庙众神出巡 ?
It is a combination of ritual ceremony and JB Chingay. The festival last 5 days, the God would be invited and carried out for a round trip from JB Old Chinese Temple to another Temple, and on the last day, there is a Chingay festival together to send the God back to the temple.

What to expect ?

When ?
12th Feb. The ceremony start 7pm to midnight.



Where to Meet ?
I would suggest to meet at somewhere near Citysquare at latest 6pm. Exact meetup point would be announced lated. Lots of area in Citysquare area would be closed for traffic, personally it is my 1st time to visit this event. I need to study on the traffic and logistic.

If you guys want to join my group, I would suggest to limit to 15. I could not handle too many of you, and I have difficulty to remember each of you on the day. Indeed, once you are here in JB, you can't miss the event. You can just walk around your own. So dun feel that if you could not join this group, you could not come and shoot for this event. Bear in mind, there is no seat allocation, and you basically can walk into the troop if you are daring enough and no one chase you out.

- Though I must say I personally feel comfortable walking around to shot, that does not guarantee this outing is risk/hazards free.

- Common sense, street awareness , personal safety always come first, ie dun run into Dragon Dance, dun confront Ah Beng to fight for good spot/location etc.

Hi Wong,

the event can las till 1-2am.

15 is a size too big for u to handle, u r best off with 5.

this event is much bigger and expect LOTS of ppl!!!

very very easy to get lost in the crowd

city square is like the las mile of the whole event, the crowd and parade only gets there by 11pm or mayb later...

start of the parade is at Jalan Abdul Rahman Andak. there's a petronas petrol stn there. normally start at abt 7pm

a word of advise...
this is more of a ritual event, nothing like what u hv in singapore.
also, please be very street-smart...
pickpockets, fights r to be expected, be alert

noted, thanks for reminder/tips. I I would not really &#8220;handle&#8221; the group by leading everyone intact entire event, and I do not think it makes sense to do so.

What we are trying to do, is to group before the event, and walk to the starting point of the parade. I could imagine everyone would be running in different direction after 20mins..because of individual preference and shooting style. Some may find it interesting/boring and could walk off anytime/anywhere after that.

Based on my last attendance there, the activities/exhibit mainly in front of City Square around 10pm, and done by 11pm.
Ijnek, would you be there this year &#28216;&#31070; ??

depends, cos traffic will b at a stand-still.

it's a parade and the place i mention is the starting point.
they will move along till they get back to the Zhong Hua Gong Huay where they will place the gods altar.
the event continues at there with the prayin etc.
there r chinese opera there too.

normally the sultan of johor is at the city square with a special stand, thus the activities go 'riot' there.
the dragons n lions all 'display' their power there for the sultan.

u can choose to stay at 1 point and wait for the parade to come to u or choose to walk with it
