#08 Kjølen, Lofoten
Attempted to complete the hike to Munkebu, the highest mountain in western Lofoten as a final challenge to ourselves. Unfortunately, plan was aborted midway after parts of the trail were still covered in thick snow. We were not prepared to risk falling to wonderland through unseen overhangs. Pretty steep cliff just off the left of the frame which explains the presence of such pre-drilled steel chains & supports.

It's really nice to be staying in these tranquil fishing villages. I reckon all the fishermen there are millionaires easily. :o

From my gear list below, traveling light is obviously my top priority:
Canon 450D
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8
Canon 50mm f1.8
Sirui T1204X CF Tripod
Lee GND Filters

We each carried a 14+kg mainpack and a daypack. Not too bad as we had trained a bit over the past year through running/walking 7+km about twice a week.
Even brought a Macbook Air so I could still work light along the trip. Cannot keep on $$ out but no $$ in right? :)

And thanks for visiting!!

#09 Tridalsvatnet, Lofoten.
Breathtaking view from where we camped. Sort of make up for the failed bid to Munkebu.

It's my first time trying to setup up a blog with zero html knowledge, so kinda ... :bsmilie:
Will definitely share with you guys when it is finally done but please pardon my bad writing skills as I doesn't write as well as some of the wonderful travelogues around..

We also had close shaves with death while driving in Iceland, probably worse than your experience, not to mention we were at Jökulsárlón when the volcano erupts.. glad to be alive though...

Thanks for your kind words and see you round!!

#11 Ågvatnet, Lofoten.
Refreshing taste of authentic mountain spring water. Drank from these all the time while hiking in Lofoten, no diarrhea.

Thanks for your kind compliment!

Here's to share a few tips you can consider to make the trip affordable, with these, hope you can embark on your adventure soon.

Food:
1: Buy the cheapest brand groceries from supermarket and cook your own simple meal.
2. Hostel kitchens usually have unwanted groceries labeled 'FREE', GRAB them all!! :bsmilie:
3. When on the move, buy a whole grilled chicken from a supermarket costing around $10-12 each. Half for lunch, save the other for dinner, chicken backside for next day breakfast. Probably tried grilled chickens from all the different supermarkets in those countries.
4. Stock up food supplies at cheap countries and ration them at expensive countries.

We were able to achieve $8+ for food per day per person with the occasional snacks.

More tips to follow in other posts later if you are keen to know more, trying not to have a post with a huge wall of texts.
