What kind of bags for travel?

I have a number of bags including Kata backpack and beltpack, Lowepro shoulder bags and also the Slingshot. For the Slingshot, if there is too much weight in it, you will feel it on your shoulder ultimately as it has only one strap. For long period on the road and lots of walking and if you...

    Hokkaido (Sapporo, Otaru & Chitose)

These remind me of my trip to the same places in March 2007. The shopping mall in photo 4 is named "Little Fox Road or 小狸路". There is a small shrine along this road dedicated to the worship of the fox spirits.

Any Recommendation for Micro Hifi $400-$800

While I would recommend the JVC woodcone series, I actually bought myself a pair of Usher Audio S520 speakers (http://www.usheraudio.com/speaker-S-520.html) and paired it with a Dared hybrid integrated amp (can't remember the model). I spent about a week in Taipei every month and remember...

Any Recommendation for Micro Hifi $400-$800

For micro-hifi, I recommend you give the JVC systems that feature the wood cone speakers an audition. Don't compare them to any audiophile equipment but given their limited sizes, they are among the best. I am not sure how much they cost though.

Phuket - What is there to see and do?

Thanks for all the tips so far. By the way, I will be staying at Marriott's Mai Khao Beach Resort. Is this a convenient location? I guess I will have to go to Phuket Town for shopping. Is that far in term of travelling time?

Phuket - What is there to see and do?

I have never visited Phuket and wonder what else does it offer other than its beaches. I am trying to persuade my wife to consider a trip there but as she is a poor swimmer, she has never like the sea. I note many of you have been to this beautiful island and shall be grateful if you could...

What software is the best you've used to process RAW images?

For NEF files, it's definitely Capture NX. I am using DxO Optic Pro as well and I do a lot of batch processing with it. It is capable of detailed adjustment but if I need total control over how the RAW conversion, Capture NX is more versatile.

Which Filter do u guys use?

I own and use Schneider Digital+ (made by parent company of B+W and cost a little more as well), Nikon, Marumi DHG and Kenko Pro-1 (Hoya under another name popular in Japan). If you were to rule out B+W or Schneider Digital+ and Nikon as well because of their relatively higher costs, the next...

Japan (Hokkaido & Tokyo) in Jan 2009 Advise needed

I have been to a few of the places listed by you in early March 2007. It was officially early spring but winter was late that year and heavy snow in fact fell towards the end of my trip when the temperature was hovering about minus 10. I find it troublesome to post photos here as they have to...

    hand shake question

It is a fact that the longer the focal length, the greater the chance of blurring occurring due to handshake as any movement is amplified. To eliminate blurring due to handshake, you will need a shutter speed that matches the focal length of your lens in mm. For example, if you are using a...

    Nikon D90. i need help !!

I think all the recent discussions are getting off topic. Alpinestars is asking for specific help on the above issues. Alpinestars, if you are still in Taiwan, just buy whatever lenses you want and buy the body in Singapore. I travel every monthly to Taipei and know the prices inside out...
