baby Lens or 50mm F1.8 , need advice?

I can't help it but to comment on the poetry in your analogy of pen vs pokemon chop. I am laughing as I type. Good one!

DSLR + Photoshop. Is it a must?

My take on this subject: a person who produce a work of art using PP is no less an artist than someone who does not do any PP at all (if this is at all possible). A great photo is a great photo. Period. I agree with night86mare's point, and add the following to people who still feel queasy...

You have some really good photos in this thread. Congratulations on your special day and may you continue to contribute photos for our viewing pleasure.

    City Snap (Singapore)

Good attempts, though the temple shot suffers from lack of subject/background isolation, and the NAFA shot could have done without the HDB block in the bottom right corner. The HDB shot, well, they are usually hardly pieces of art, aren't they? You'd do well to come up with an eye-catching shot...

    Depth of Field Question

Yes, that is correct. The camera keeps the lens at its widest aperture as that is the best for focusing, and not close the aperture to the setting you have set.

That is actually from the front element to the subject.

Do You Insure Your Equipment When Travelling Overseas?

My friend, I doubt that in the unfortunate event that you lose your life, you can buy it back with the money you get from the the insurance company! :bsmilie:

    Around SG #2

I second that. #3 is the best of the four as it is much less cluttered than #2 and #4 while still having enough interesting details unlike #1.

Can we see HDR wider than our perceptions?

Hi theRBK, just to avoid further confusing the TS, dynamic range and wavelength range are two separate things. Dynamic range refers to the difference between the highest intensity and the lowest intensity, so it doesn't matter whether it is visible light, infrared light or ultraviolet light we...

Can we see HDR wider than our perceptions?

Well, with regards to how much dynamic range sensors can handle, printers can print out, and monitors can display, I guess you answered it in your first post, which is about 6 stops. As for nature, I do not know the numbers, but I can imagine that it is many, many, many stops. Just take you...

Can we see HDR wider than our perceptions?

michhy is correct. What HDR involves is take 2 or more photos of the same scene of differing exposure level and combine them into a single photo. When people say that a HDR photo reproduces 12 stops, it actually means that the details present in the HDR photo has a 12 stop range, not that the...

How bad is considered as bad vignetting?

Vignetting is light falloff. Anyway, the vignetting isn't that bad, which has already been mentioned. Some digital processing should take care of it.

Question on B&S - who is first to get item? Post in B&S thread or SMS?

Hi Goering, no offence, but this is not exactly the situation in the TS's case. The seller had a "buy now" price, and that made it an offer and not just an invitation to treat. This detail only emerged later in the thread though, to be fair. What is your opinion in this case?

    Legal to resell software?

Hi itsybitsyspidy, this should be spelled out in the software's license agreement that is usually displayed when you run the software's installation program, right before the software actually begins to install itself.

Question on B&S - who is first to get item? Post in B&S thread or SMS?

I am glad that my post has made you take a step back and reevaluate the situation. I'm not a lawyer, so I am not very sure of the statement I made on who is "legally" the first one to offer. I would love to have someone who is a lawyer enlighten me on what kind of legal status a forum posting...

Question on B&S - who is first to get item? Post in B&S thread or SMS?

I agree with "just because you posted on his thread doesn't make it a deal. all you did was make an offer." The seller has to agree with your bid to make it a deal. Only when both sides agree is there then a contract between the 2; a contract (or deal if you want to put it that way) cannot be...

What you need is a graduated neutral density filter instead of a simple neutral density filter as recommended by ExplorerZ.

    Gracefully dancing

Nice series. I particularly like #4 for the interplay between the shadows but it looks more expansive than it needs to be. A tighter crop maybe?

A question to the technically enlightened

I have a question for you: how much (more) would you pay for the system you have in mind? $100? (I presume for your system you will need 1 x transmitter at the DVD player side and 1 transceiver at the amp and 1 receiver at the TV)
