i had the same problem and mine was faulty. got it replaced. you may want to disable the EVF to see if it really is the eye sensor.

Yep, watch out for this. the feeling of having your new toy go faulty within the first week is really bad also the time lost in having it replaced/repaired luck of the draw i guess when it comes to electronics

its definitely not a light detector problem when light derector is blocked, the whole screen shuts off including the backlight when i extend the screen, the screen is black but the backlight is still on must be a problem with the ribbon that connects the screen to the body..

turns out my A7II has a problem.. screen blacks out (no signal) when it is articulated..disappointed hope i can do a 1 to 1 exchange
