Discussion on D800, D800E review by Thom Hogan

I have no problems spending $40 but just wanted to check how user friendly/ worthwhile the manual is. I recently bought the magic lanterns guide for d800e which I thought was terrible. I don't need another Nikon user manual! Has anyone downloaded this?

Has anyone downloaded Thom's guide to the D800? I am tempted to get it but it's a little costly for a download.

Availibility of D800 in Singapore (Part 2)

Picked up my Nikon D800E at Fotofile in Bangkok; they have several branches and carry a wide selection of cameras and lenses both 2nd hand and new. They even carry Leica much to my wife's delight. I paid around 105,000 baht for the camera which is approx s$4375. I even treated myself to the...

Availibility of D800 in Singapore (Part 2)

The price in Bangkok is a little cheaper. Just bought my D800E for Thai Baht 107,000 which is approx S$4345 and a 50mm 1.4G for S$640.

    Should I buy the D800

Never thought of upgrading the d300 to the D7000 as I love the heavy body and feel of the d300. The D7000 looks too dinky. What differences did you notice between the 2? The AF-S 85mm f/1.4G is just an incredible lens. Beautiful bokeh and fantastic portrait lens. The new 85mm is made in China...

    Should I buy the D800

Yes I agree, however the f1.4G gives much better bokeh.

    Should I buy the D800

Thanks for all the advice. Never handled a D7000. The D300 is my first and only camera. Still happy with it so will stick with it. Money is not an issue to upgrade and would like (at some point) to upgrade to full frame camera.

    Should I buy the D800

Not great news. Will probably stick with my D300 for a while longer. No complaints there. If I was to upgrade then I would invest in the 50mm f/1.4 AF-S which i assume is better than the f/1.8. Either that or the 24mm f/1.4G. Has anyone else upgraded from D300 to the D800? If I use my DX...

    Should I buy the D800

I have a D300 and love it however would love to move to a full frame camera. The D800 seems ideal however the large pixel count is a little worrying for me. All my shots are taken hand held as I dont even own a tripod! I dont really need the 36MP but I really want to go full frame. The lenses I...

    Lowepro Fastpac 250

I'm looking for a backpack which can hold computer and camera in separate easy to access pocket. I also need separate compartment for books, etc but i dont have tripod. i dont want a sling bag but i do like the fast pac which you can swing round to access the camera without putting the bag down...

    Lowepro Fastpac 250

Is the Kata a better bag? I do not mind paying more if the product is good. I tried a friend Fastpac and you need to swing the bag on your left shoulder to access the camera which i found inconvenient since i would use my right shoulder to carry the bag. I notice with Kata the access is at the...

    Lowepro Fastpac 250

I was looking at the fastpac or the compu serious. I like the conveniency of the fastpac. How comfy is this to wear with a laptop and camera with lenses. I will probably buy this next week if i cannot find anything better.

I am thinking of buying this back pack for my extensive travelling and was wandering if anyone else is using this and what they think if it. I own a Nikon D300 with 10-24, 50mm & 17-55mm lenses and use a 15" notebook. Thanks

    Which Micro Lens is Best

I am about to invest in a Micro Lens for my D300. I have used my friends AF Micro 105mm f/2.8D and find it excellent. I was considering the AF- S MIcro VR 105mm f/2.8G but have just read a review of the Nikon 60mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Micro. The latter is about S$400-500 cheaper but what are the...
