Sony A7 II

i went to sony 313 at 10am plus today. the body package sold out. only left with kit lens package.

wow.. this camera so hot??

I think this is the most affordable 35mm sensor camera in a mirrorless body so far IMHO, now with this 5-axis IBIS, it is like a dream come true for many people, like me for example. I'm not surprised most shops won't have stock by this evening.

Waiting patiently. Today not working. Been waiting all day hahaha

Alan Photo facebk mentioned stocks has arrived at both outlets

Just drop by sony store @Nex.. 2kits sets still available, next delivery batch is next Wednesday

Just dropped by Sony 313 and looked at the display sets. Grip feels good. Weight is certainly heavier than before. Shutter sound is pleasing.

I noticed in their brochure that they have a few lens to be launched in Spring of 2015. One of them is a 35 mm f1.4. Does anyone knows if this is an AF lens?

Has anyone got hold of one yet? Interested to know if the AF will lock into a subject in low light, something that the A7 had a problem with.

Was at Sony nex to try out the test unit. 70-200mm lens is on the test unit for u to try out the ibis.

Wasn't too keen so requested to try out on the dark setup for the 7s & switched to 35mm. Only using 1 hand to shoot to test out the ibis.

Below is my quick humble opinion since I only tested it for 10mins.

Oh mine, the grip is almost perfect with the c1 & c2 buttons nicely located. Feels like its tailor made for my hands! My only disgust is the movie button location.

1st few w partial lights, looking fine as ibis keeps the image sharp eventhough shutter speed is going below 1/20 & slower as I adjust the iso down. Not bad.

Next, is the extreme darkness test with very little or no light. Hmmm, with the iso 6400 (max I would push for a7 sensor) the shutter speed goes to 0.4 to 1s. This is where its loses out to the low light beast a7s. Images starts to be blurry..bare in mind I am using 1 hand, so in real world if we r using 2 hands it should be better. However, do note in real world the night scenery will look sharp but moving objects will be blurr.

Happy w the darkness test, I put on the 70-200mm for a few quick shots. AF seems faster & at 200mm zoom ibis does helps. IQ is good.

Now the question...to upgrade to a7ii or a7s (difference of 500+ as 7s price coming down) since I already using a7.

Between a7 & a7ii, mainly its the ibis diff. I am happy w a7 w/o ibis & have seen countless bro posting photos from a7, 7r looking super sharp. IMHO ibis is good to have but not a necessity.

As for a7s, it can do what no other cam can do for now. This makes my choice easy..buy a7s.

Don't get me wrong a7ii is very good cam but its boils down to what you want..for bros that are very very tight on budget a7 is a very good bargain right now, extra $ save can buy a fast & sharp lens like a 2nd hand FE55mm.

It's AF, based on Distagon and looks very big (72mm filter) IIRC.

Do You mean A7s can do very very well at night?

Bcoz I still thinking of a7s or a7ii very is better ~ I take night shoot more then day shoot ~

U got to test it to find out more between the 2 as it depends on your shooting style too. Each has it own way to capture night shot, high iso vs stability. Sony has carefully market & place each a7 into different categories & not killing each other. If a7ii is better in night shots then they are killing a7s directly. Best is a7s ii with both functions!!

U may wait for more bros that bought the a7ii start shooting night scenery for actual field report.

If you do a google search on A7S low light performance, it is more than very well. It is just phenomenal. BTW, Click! has sold out all its A7II, last set bought by someone I knew haha.

IBIS willl not help with capturing moving subject. so if u need the shutter speed to freeze movement ..better to get A7S to be able to use high iso, but still clean.

IBIS allow u to use slower shutter speed handheld. with FE 35, i tried 1/8 and can still get sharp pic.
