Nikon 1 J Equivalent

Hi,

newbie here.

I realize there isnt alot of discussion about Nikon 1 series especially Nikon 1 J series.

I wanted to get an entry level DSLR (not sure if Nikon 1 J series consider or not) that can also function like a compact camera.

Budget $600 for body.

Most importantly, the camera is good enough to capture reasonable quality picture with low light/night shot.

Is there any other camera that is in the same range? thanks.

a) Define 'good enough'
b) Are you talking about the usual snapshots with blinding flash in people's face or night pictures of still objects? The latter one can be done any any camera with sufficient control over settings (e.g. Manual) plus a good tripod.
