JTC Green Core @ CleanTech Park

The Green Core is the “green lungs” of CleanTech Park, a place of respite for people working within the business park and the natural wildlife that make up the unique ecology of the site. Situated at the centre of CleanTech Park, the Green Core diverges itself into four themes – Summit Forest, Wildlife Corridor, Stream Ravine and Freshwater Swamp Forest that intersperse with building parcels. This creates a unique industrial estate where buildings can have dual frontages, adopting both an urban and a nature front.

To celebrate the rich biodiversity within the Green Core and its historical links with the arts, JTC has organised an Art Competition, Photo Competition and Workshop to orientate visitors to the new green enclave in the West of Singapore.

Deadlines for Signup:
Photo Competition - 11th May 2014 Top Prize $2000(Open cat)
Art Competition - 11th May 2014 Top Prize $3500
Photo Workshop (Free) - 26th May 2014

Approximately 5-ha in size, the Green Core is the first development in Singapore to achieve the BCA-NParks Green Mark Platinum Award in the New Parks category. It is designed to preserve the rich biodiversity of flora and fauna such as the Red Junglefowl, Straw-headed Bulbul, Keel-bellied Whip Snake and Banded Black Skimmer which are species of conservation interest in Singapore. The area also provides for a conducive resting place for migratory birds such as Cinnamon Bittern, Common Kingfisher and Common Sandpiper. In addition, a butterfly garden has been built to ensure that the Blue Helen, Common Birdwing and Dwarf Crow Butterflies in the area will continue to make the Green Core their home.

The Green Core has also been identified as a node in Singapore Round Island Route (RIR) with the theme “Art and Green Technology”. Cycling enthusiasts will be able to cycle from park to park around Singapore. Amenities like bicycle shelters, water fountains, fitness station, lookout decks, pavilion, broadwalks, and green roof toilets makes Green Core an ideal green pit-stop. Visitors can also look forward to more upcoming artwork by local artists and students, in addition to the existing ceramic artwork at the Summit Forest.

To celebrate the rich biodiversity within the Green Core and its historical links with the arts, JTC has organised an Art Competition to orientate visitors to the new green enclave in the West of Singapore.
