Canon Responds to Revolutionary Sony Full-Frame ILC with The New APS-C EOS 75D Digital SLR Camera Featuring Hyperswivel Technology and More

"Designed to Change the Way Photographers See the World in Every Possible Way With Endless Possibilities Being Possible, Creatively"

Gloversville, N.Y., October 18, 2013 –In light of Sony’s recent release of a revolutionary new small form factor full-frame camera, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to introduce the high-performance EOS 75D Digital SLR camera – bringing a completely new way to capture digital images with an even more revolutionary APS-C sensor SLR. Featuring an innovative new Hyperswivel™ rear screen that provides 14% more tilt and swivel than any other rear screen on the market, the EOS 70D also brings imaging performance to new heights with an improved 20.3 megapixel APS-C Canon CMOS sensor(100,000 more memory-capturing pixels than the 70D), improved Bionic Luminance Undulation Reflex™ double-thickness anti-aliasing filter and Canon’s superb DIGIC 5+ Image Processor.

Canon has inspired a new generation of cameras with the ultra-slim 75D, which reduces depth vs. the outdated 70D by 2.1mm. Even in this small form-factor, the revolutionary TRI Pixel CMOS AF replaces the focus system of the outdated 70D. TRI Pixel CMOS AF provides exceptional tracking performance when photographic and taking videos in the arms-outstretched position, in a manner similar to using the camera’s viewfinder. This system improves on the Dual Pixel CMOS AF by being one better. TRI Pixel CMOS AF supports nearly 27 of the 1031 models of EF lenses, enhancing the well-being and creative vision of photographers of all skill levels.

“The new EOS 75D Digital SLR camera is a game-changing DSLR model that incorporates our future-proof sensor architecture, introduced in 2009. With the redesigned thin body, Bionic Luminance Undulation Reflex™ (BLUR) Aliasing filter, and vastly improved swivel screen, photographers will enter into unforseen realms of creative nirvana.” said Yama Morimoto, executive vice president and general manager, Incremental Improvements and Price Increases Group, Canon U.S.A. “Sony may have released a far smaller full-frame camera for hundreds of dollars more, but Canon has out-innovated them with the much larger APS-C EOS 75D, that allows you to turn regular photos of your cats and children into priceless works of art.”

All Angles Covered
The EOS 75D Digital SLR camera’s built-in Hyperswivel™ screen allows for 14% additional swivel and tilt, providing the world’s first APS-C, DSLR camera with 186 degree swivel capability. With the download of Canon’s iMAGE PRO app, users can unlock full usage of the AF system and shutter button while in LiveView, making the 75D an even more versatile creative tool. With the download of this app ($123.45 USD at launch), users are able to connect wirelessly to computers, DLNA devices, Wi-Fi Certified® Canon cameras and wireless PictBridge5 compatible printers, such as the PIXMA MG6320 Wireless Photo All-In-One printer model.

Even better than the last even better camera using the same sensor technology
Featuring a new 20.3 megapixel APS-C Canon CMOS sensor and Canon’s superb DIGIC 5+ Image Processor. That is exatly 100,000 more pixels than the outdated 70D. The sensor – based on the future-proof 2009 7D architecture – features the Bionic Luminance Undulation Reflex™ (BLUR) double-thickness anti-aliasing filter, as well as an extensive ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to a completely software-pushed 25,600), the EOS 75D Digital SLR camera is capable of producing sharp, detailed images, even in the complete dark, with the addition of an EOS system flash. Frames per second, AF point, cross-type AF points, Metering zones, custom functions, and pages in the manual have all been revolutionarily increased by one.

Focused on photography
The Canon 75D provides photographers with the focus needed to create lasting memories and museum-quality art. All distractions that may take away from the creative experience have been disabled in firmware. The following distractions have been wisely disabled: Af microadjust, Life audio monitoring via headphones, custom kelvin white balance, mid-ISO selection, Full control of H264 bitrate, full resolution HDMI output, Bracketing for exposure, flash, or DoF, Trap focus, Custom AF patterns, WAV recording, Focus peaking, zebras, toggle exposure simulation in live view, custom bulb timers.
The 75D provides 25 creative filters, including the new “Catify” filter that makes images of any small child become photos of a cat.

LOL at the irony..
- a Canon user-

Alamak, bought the EOS 70D already. Now then Canon want to tell us this @#$$%%%^^&&*

Yes, but Canon has not yet revealed:

• Canon full frame mirrorless to replace the not-so-good EOS-M and to counter Sony A7/7r (and the new Nikon D4H?)
• Canon 40+ megapixel full frame DSLR to counter Nikon D800
• Canon medium format DSLR since it has in its labs successfully made a 120MP sensor. Is this akan datang, leading to Pentax cutting prices on its medium format DSLR?

The opening post sure hits where it hurts...

I sure hope Canon does wake up after a few knockouts by other brands..

I laughed darn hard inside when I read the Hyperswivel screen and the TruLite DR reduction algorithm :bsmilie:

This joke really made my day.. thanks Kei!

It's a joke post because Canon never has a 5 in their last digit.

Further more, 70D is slammed as "outdated'...hmm!

Other manufacturers are removing the AA filters to get sharper pictures...

75D is doubling the AA filter! and somemore adding the BLUR:eek:

???

Canon consider above as distractions and remove them in the firmware? :dunno:

wah heng ah, was going to buy the 70D then saw this.

Man this thing got a Hyperswivel™ rear screen, "that provides 14% more tilt and swivel than any other rear screen" Man, how kick-ass is that!

1 key feature which really caught my eye was the "double-thickness anti-aliasing filter", SOLID man SOLID!, which other camera has this? NONE! Canon has a real winner here!

And a revolutionary creative filter : the new "Catify" filter that makes images of any small child become photos of a cat. No more spending days upon days trying to pp that! What a life saver.

There's so many more other notable features and capabilities one can rave at....Thumbs up Canon...no make that triple thumbs up!

no wonder canon is the industry leader. this amount of innovation is simply astonishing...will order one first thing tomorrow!!!

What a load of rubbish from Canon. All these are not distractions.
Canon had to cut costs to meet a production cost target. To provide the new features & technology; some trade off had to be made.
Don't cripple the product and then say because it is crippled, it is now better.

This is wrong. Don't treat your customers as though they are goondus.

The advertising/marketing department tried hard to make an ordinary swivel LCD screen (that can tilt slightly more); sound as important and ground breaking as the first heart transplant.

this camera is so gonna make me trash the idea of getting an A7R and just buy this instead.

why, it definitely looks like it's gonna be better than any Full Frame Camera!

You pre-ordered already? From which shop?

Was previously set to get a full frame camera, but now that Canon came up with this bad boy, I think it will beat any FF camera out there. Imagine what the TruLite DR reduction algorithm (with the highest noise:signal ratio) can do!

Seems like everyone here except a few still think this is real .... lol

From KT TOFO. Yeah, cant wait to test this bad boy!!

If this thread not about Canon rumor, then should be Kopitiam material!
