Hi All,

Am using SONY NEX5N with SEL18200 Lens. Took some pictures at the zoo (sunny day but surrounded with trees) and pictures taken were slightly dark. Tried using stock flash which come in the package with camera, do see improvement after using the flash.

Was searching at SONY website and came across this flash model HVL-F20S. Will this flash help in the quality for the photos?

Kindly provide your valuable comment please. Thanks

You do realize how far most of the zoo animals are, right? And that most flashes can't reach that far? And that for many, you should not use flash photography. I suggest bumping up your exposure compensation instead.

Some shots under the roof and animal is just 2-3 ft away, i do encounter same problem. Is there any other reason to it?

It's just metering. You can switch to center weighted or spot.

one more thing: Flash startles animals. not a good thing to do.

I remember an incident whereby a rhino attacked the zookeeper because an inconsiderate visitor shoot flash at it.

As Rashkae mentioned, its likely your metering.
