one thing after i tried hands on the D7000 but could not find, does it have the animation of the aperture when we change the F stops like the D5100 does? other than that, the body feels more solid compared to D5100....

D300s has a larger fps, larger buffer, full magnesium alloy body and also better weather sealing. But the d7000 has better
Video function and more megapixels

But lower ISO , weight more , HD video clips , ......more reason to get D7k than d300s

No animation for the D7000.

True but the small buffer could be deal breakers for burst shooters

Speed of AF and the 51 point autofocus is also in favor of the D300s.

One must acknowledge that the D300s is a much older camera than the D7000, and that the argument is mainly on "pro" features such a larger buffer, better weather sealing, against the newer sensor of the D7000.

Just go get the camera that you prefer.

Does the Nikon 16-35mm VR make a good portrait len for the D7000? Thanks

16-35 for portrait lens? How close do u wanna stand to your subject?

oohh...just checking la cos afraid get too acquainted to the animation rather than the f-stops numbers......hahaha....but i really admit that it's good for beginners to understand the f-stops meaning....

Haha I don't even know what the animation is, you mean the D5100 shows a visual of the size of the aperture?

heheh...even when i use my 10-20 which is effectively 15-30, i hv to stand so close to the subject n everytime there will be a comment of not taking too close to their face, which i hv to tell umpteenth times that it will not be so close on the final output...hehehe....

yes bro, in d5100, the animation shows the size of the aperture as you change the f-stops number.....n the shutter speed is a bar thing around the aperture.....looks cool for education though...

The 10-20mm has a minimum focusing distance leh.

Guys advise pls.

Get the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 or wait for the new 24-70 f2.8 with VC and USD?

Oh that's cool but for the D7000 you usually change settings through the top LCD, a lot faster than using the main LCD.

I would wait for the new lens, if you are in urgent need for one, just get a 2nd hand 28-75mm first

Yup true , Sony A77 maybe another choice to consider too .

yes, it's just the cool factor but then again when u understand all the concepts and fully understand the diff exposure settings, u don't need it alrdy but only thing u still need to either look at the lcd screen or the viewfinder to get the information. 1 thing i notice on the D7000 is all the information is on the top lcd even the focus points which is quite useful n fast as well as it saves up some battery juice by not powering the lcd often....1 up for that...
