What would be your dream lens

I shoot with the 50mm a lot so I'd wish Nikon make 50mm 1.0 or 50mm F0.95. Much more feasible

The sigma 200-500 f2.8 weighs in excess of 15kg, a theoretical nikkor 200-400 f2.8 cannot be that much way off I think. Hopefully by then Nikon might just head towards lowering weight of superteles like Canon's new lineup

So I'm right to assume a gun-carriage will be included? Lets just round it down to 10kg (for simplicty sake)... OMG... thinking about that already gives me hernia.... :bsmilie:

I think 70-200 F/4 VRII is definitely going to be many people's dream...

a cheap 50mm F1.2G with self cleaning and nano-coating. no fungus for life =P oh well, it's just a dream

Your dream may come true. Rumor has it that 50mm f/1.2G and 105mm f/2G are both in the "not so far away" future. The no fungus for life might be a manual effort though. Unless of course you migrate to cold cold dry dry country like Alaska.

I have seen a shot with Leica before at this aperture in a Taiwan photo exhibition. the DOF is really beautiful but will need really steady hand and remember that only one small dot will be sharp, everything else blur blur. This would bring them head on with Leica... which I like!!!

It will create more problems. The nikon subforum will have more threads like "pls help decide 70-200 f2.8 vrii or 70-200 f4 vrii"

someone who can afford that will be able to afford the carriage. Probably will have the maid or his dad to carry for him also!!!

You might as well request for 12-70mm... That way, Nikon would have to drop 14-24 and 24-70 in one sitting... :bsmilie: But given a super UWA to medium zoom, I'd think the distortions are going to be weeeeeeeaaaally hard to control. :)

yeah la, hate the distortion thing and will need PP. That is why I put 16-70, more achievable, I think.

The only dream I'd wish for is for the prices to come down on the current line-up... simple as that. :) I think this is even more wishful thinking on my part...

Bro, you noe they can do it right? Just bring all the manufacturing to China!

"If you have cash to spare and can handle the weight"... Standard questions comes with standard answers... :bsmilie:

Most of the professional f2.8 zooms do not exceed a zoom factor of 3, probably a balance of design technicalities n costing..

Achievable (think 16-85 Dx)! But doubling price and weight are also achievable... :bsmilie: This lens will probably be the price of 14-24 + 24-70 and probably as heavy as 70-200mm... Not to mention distortion and image quality probably as *cough cough* equal to 18-200/28-300/etc as possible... :)

Can!! The price will still remain the same, and them laughing all the way to the bank! :bsmilie: All I can say is... I don't think Nikon ever let country of manufacture affect their prices. :)

Actually I wanted it to be a DX lens. Merge 12-24 and 17-55 together.

I hope every lens cost 10$ :-S

I am not greedy, I like the size of AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II but I want it to be AF-S NIKKOR 18-200mm f/2.8G ED VRII (VRIII also can)

"18-200 f/2.8" and you are say you're not greedy! ;)
LOL

totally with you on this. Nikon knows how to control their quality and it is written on their price tag, not which country it is made in. And if it is good, Nikon will tell u "ai mai? ai lai mai sua" in Japanese.

hahaha yeah man! VR III some more! Any future VR III is probably known as the jumping jack lens. Made in Japan, earthquake and tsunami proof.

cannot la.... if every lens is $10, everyone of us here will be mad at Nikon and will be DL with you for bringing up this idea cos we are stuck with our old lenses!
