Hi guys,

Hey, anyone knows if this is allowed for SIA handcarry check in

1) Lowepro "secondary school bag size" - i carry over shoulders
2) Laptop - i sling over my body
3) Normal check in luggage bag - roll on the floor type (standard size)

Lastly, does the X-ray do any damage to the camera / lens ?

ps: i am not a student, traveling coach/econ ticket, from SG to Sydney

There won't be any damage to a DSLR and lens going thru x-ray.

You do seem over the hand carry quota though.

Does seem that you are carry a little too much. Check with the check in counter to cfm whether you can bring so much on. Also, would it be any different if you are a student?

i've done this on jetstar with no problems (carry on luggage + laptop bag + camera bag), but if you want to be sure, check with the airline.

thanks everyone ...
i will try my luck... should be ok...cos 70% full flight...

You will usually be ok with 1 and 2, or 2 and 3, but really pushing your luck with all 3.

As for the X-Ray, this was a concern back n the old days of film.

If airport X-ray machines could damage a modern camera or lens there would be HUGE warnings all over your instruction manual or the "handling and care" pamphlet.

If #1 and #2 for handcarry, and checking in #3, you are fine.

#1 will be your handcarry luggage. #2 (provided it is not a huge laptop bag) is considered a personal item. #3 is check in.
