Intending to get a dslr pls advice

Given how affordable the new DA 35mm f/2.4 is, imo it should be in the bag of every newbie. Compact, great image quality, cheap and versatile... what more can you ask?

I am sure it is a good choice to pick the K-r + 18-55mm + 55-300mm

All dry cabinet which need power one should be alright...
the smallest one Digi-cabi 36 which is 30L is more than enough for beginner, except that you have a lot of budget to go for lens...
it cost in shop $118 (cheapest i have see so far) come with 5 year wty...
i have 2 k-x body + 2 Kits len + DAL 55-300 + another 3 lens + 1 Flash light in it and I still have 1/3 space for others like watches, harddisk and battery…

Rocket Blower can get online or some shop within $10… big one… don’t get those mini one that always give as free gift
Tripod can get those cheap one try first… about $70… but not those sliver color one that always give for free… not strong enough…
For battery and battery holder, can decide later whather AA batt or another orig batt… K-r come with battery and charge… that battery should last you at least 500 shoot per full charge… I think rechargeable AA batt is heavier than the orig batt(I guess only because the AA rechargeable that I use is 28gm each, while Li batt should be lighter than 100gm)…

Hi there you mean the 30l you can put in 2 bodys 2 kit lenses 55-300 + another 3 lens and all those other stuff? i didnt know it could handle so much stuff in it. i saw from the pictures that i would need a 48l at least to handle future upgrades. if indeed can put so much stuff than i would just get that. is it full digital or analog?

Wait, when u guys talking about 50 1.7 is it the F50 1.7 af? its a hard lens to find now. FA50 1.4 is easy to find nowadays.

Prime lens is depending on what u guys wanted. Some prefer zooms while some prefer to move backward n forward when using Prime lens since it gives out more addiction for future lens buying I guess. haha.

Zoom lens usually provide u with ease on changing the focal lenght of ur desire. But IQ is sometimes abit lower than Primes for those cheap zooms (Usually distortions). Which is OK for me actually since u not doing it for like a magazine shot or stock photos. Even Cheap Primes does have its problems. But that problem people will usually make themselves happy by saying it has CHARACTERS. heh.

My suggestion is GET a KR with double kit lens 18-55+50-200 or 18-55+55-300. Then from there, save some money n get urself a FA50mm 1.4 or F50 1.7(Sometimes pop-up in Buy&Sell or EBAY).

OR get an old Manual Lens of ur desire Focal Length. 24,28,35,40,50,55,58,85,105,135,200,300. Manual Lens(prime or zoom) is not for people who wants easy life. a DSLR is a tool for u to learn Photography n be good at it. A lens is the key to make that effort worthwhile, be it a bad lens or a good lens. My first Old Prime lens is a Manual COSINA 50mm 2.0 with a bad front n am Happy with it till today. Manual lens does teach u about accuracy in manual focusing, speed in focusing and even taking time to understand the surrounding while thinking if this is a good shot since a manual dun let u use with ease in terms of speed since the speed is ur fingers to begin with.

Manual lens can range from 60bucks to thousands of dollars depending on the makes n quality. But dun judge the quality of the manual lens just from their price. My suggestion when u saw a K-mount(PK,PKA) Manual lens on Ebay or B&S and thinks its for u but thinking if the lens is good or not, then there is always FLICKR n Google which u can just type the lens name n search. u can be surprise at some cheapo primes that gives out different colors n characters. this is the part where u ask urself if the Prime or old zooms is for u or not.

This is my el-cheapo Cosina 50mm f2.0 gives me. I sold off my FA50 but still keep this lens. Though FA50 is good, but I'm in love with Manual Lens. hehe.

+1 for DA 35 2.4, FA 50 1.4, and DA 40 2.8

hijack thread a bit....

im a new user also looking at Pentax K-r as my choice (eliminated Canon 600D and Nikon D5100 liao haha) but some queries here....

issit more worth it to get the 18-55mm kit alone, or 18-55mm + 50-300mm kit? Would the money saved on the 50-300mm be better spent on a prime lens, or issit better to start from there?

If I want to get a prime, is 50mm f1.7 good enough? Or should I go for 50mm f1.4? Is the difference in the two really that notable?

Another question I have is what filters should I get? UV filter is a must, but what other filters should I have?

Thanks in advance! Looking to join the Pentax club real soon :)

For the DAL 55-300mm, is worth it one...
the price different is about $300+, you can only buy this lens as a package...
the other version, DA 55-300mm, is 500+ IIRC...
if let say you don't like the 55-300mm, i think you still sell it at $300+ to other user easly... not much loss...

for me, i sure go for this because i sure want to try out the feel of zooming to 300mm at a lowest cost.. with kit, i can try18-300 to see which range i like... also DSLR can change lens... if no lens to change... very boring neh...

Top layer a lot of rubbish... with a flash haha...
mid layer got 4 lens... and still have some space...
bottom layer 2 k-x , one with 16-50, The other one with 18-55... inside still have 2-3 some filter in box...

you're quite right... something a little bigger is more future-proof.

Omg this is the 30l dry cabinet? i am amazed by the number of stuff it can contain. but most prob i will get a bigger one for future upgrades though my oc would most likely object to LBA

I have same model as yours. But I wish I bought the one with plastic tray and I can pull out the tray, to reduce the chance of knocking my equipments.

Got Photo to show you already, how to cheat you? My PS skill is not that good.
Yours is other brand?
or you let 1 of the tray remain at the bottom and forgot to move it up?

Wah this is good! got pull out tary + LED...
the LED on all the way one or only open door then light up?

i was aiming for the LED one... but in the end at PC show, nikon sold the digi-cabi one @$50 only with PWP... so i just hoot and go without the led...

Get a K5 (better to be the silver one) and a DA*50-135 for your gf, and a DA18-135WR for everything else. That's all you need.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Hi

a K5 would be too costly currently. i would like to make another enquiry if i swap out 18-55 for a DA35 f2.4 would i be better or i would need a 18-55 and a DA35 . looking for the best cheap deal in the long run to minimize unnecessary spending unless necessary
