woahahah...

But I still think Maxi was the bigger failure considering how he fail to convert that chance against Chelsea when he was barely 1m in front of goal.

with my injury legs, i think i can strike eve better than that. :bsmilie:

There is epic miss by cristina regina if you do a search, seeing that plus the villa miss, makes me wonder if maxi is trying to emulate them

AGGER: `WE WERE S***(kanasai)`

Posted 11/02/11 08:17

Daniel Agger has delivered a damning verdict of Roy Hodgson's time in charge of Liverpool admitting "we were s***".

Hodgson was sacked after just six months in charge at Anfield after a string of below-par performances and disappointing results.

Agger has made his blunt assessment of Hodgson's tenure after trying to find reasons for former Liverpool star Fernando Torres' wretched form before his £50million move to Chelsea.

The Danish international claims it was difficult for Torres to shine for the Reds because the entire team struggled under Hodgson's short spell in charge.

Agger said: "That is a big question, isn't it? How to explain that. Look at the team - we played awful, we were s***".

"And he [Torres] is a part of the team, so when everything is playing well, he plays a lot better. It is the same for everybody, for me, for Stevie [Gerrard], it is the same.

"When the team are performing, when you look at every single player they are playing better. But when we are losing, everybody is on top of us, everybody is playing bad."

Agger has no complaints over Torres' controversial switch to rivals Chelsea and he backed new signings Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll to help fill the void left by Torres' departure.

"All the Liverpool players wish him all the best," added Agger. "Liverpool got a lot of money for him, so why shouldn't we wish him all the best?

"If the player doesn't want to be there any more, there is no reason to keep him. I think everyone at Melwood liked him and still like him because he is a good guy and wish him all the best in a blue shirt, except against us!

"It is a big, big gap to fill, but Carroll has shown he can score goals at the top level. We will have to wait until he is fit, but hopefully him and Luis will be great signing for us, because that will be another thing which will help us towards our targets."

Agger also believes he is close to full sharpness now after putting injury problems behind him.

"I had injuries. I have played a few games in a row now and have started getting the feeling back of playing football," continued Agger.

"I have been in England now for five years and I know it is a tough, demanding game.

"I think I am the first to say how annoying it is to be injured but it is a part of me so I have to adapt to that and have to give everything when I am fit."

GERRARD AND LIVERPOOL SMILING AGAIN

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed he was left "heartbroken" by Fernando Torres' decision to quit the club for Chelsea, but believes the Reds are finally on an upward curve.

The England midfielder has led the Anfield club through a long period off drama both on and off the field, but now believes under the ownership of John W Henry and Tom Werner, and the caretaker management of Kenny Dalglish, that good times are returning.

That did not stop him mourning the departure of Torres, though.

"I was heartbroken. Absolutely gutted. But I also called him after he left," Gerrard told the Daily Mail.

"There are no hard feelings. I built up a relationship with Fernando and became his friend. He scored some fantastic goals and I have fantastic memories. I enjoyed playing with him. So you can't go from one extreme to another and fall out with him, start criticising him.

"But he will also understand how I feel. Fernando is a bright person and he will understand that the Liverpool fans are upset as well."

Torres' Chelsea debut was a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, the latest in a string of impressive results they have put together since Dalglish returned to the club to replace Roy Hodgson last month.

And added to the signings of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll - the £60million replacements for Torres - Gerrard can finally see happier times returning to his club.

He said: "The football club is much happier now. It's in a better place than it has been for a few years. We've got new owners, who I've spoken to quite a lot, who are passionate about what they want to do.

"I trust them, I trust them even more after what's happened in the last week or so. And the way they've acted, coming towards the end of the transfer window, has impressed me. I was a bit wary at first because I was maybe a bit guilty of trusting the previous owners too much.

"This time I've taken a bit more time in judging them. But they've been brilliant so far. They have put the club back in a good place already and the last three or four weeks have been really positive. We've had some good results. The lads are smiling again. I've actually enjoyed going to work again."

Dalglish delighted with Lucas

February 12, 2011

Kenny Dalglish has hailed Lucas Leiva for his transformation at Liverpool and says it is no surprise to see him playing the Dunga role for Brazil.

While Lucas, 24, has received the consistent backing of Liverpool managers, he has struggled to win over the fans since signing from Gremio in 2007.

However, his impressive performances over the last year have seen many supporters come around and, after he won his ninth cap for his country in the friendly against France this week, Dalglish feels he fully deserves international recognition.

"It was interesting to see him playing for Brazil on Wednesday," he said. "They have had some fantastic players in his position and the best known was Dunga, who won World Cups and went on to manage the national side.

"I've always said Lucas is highly thought of in Brazil, probably more than in Britain, but certainly not at Liverpool. I don't know why he has started playing so well. Maybe he just needed time to settle. Whatever the reason, we're just grateful for the job that he's doing.

"We have always appreciated what he can do. Last Sunday he was as good as anyone on the pitch at Chelsea, so to see him playing for Brazil wasn't really a surprise for me."

He added: "I don't think Lucas is going to be the one who beats five or six players and puts it into the back of the net, but he may be the one who stops the guy going past the first fella then sets us on our way.

"He's an important member of the team. Most teams have someone like that in the ranks and we are no different. The fact he started on Wednesday for Brazil tells you they must be very pleased with him as well, and the performances he's put in for us mean he's deserved it."

Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Johnson, Maxi, Meireles, Lucas, Aurelio, Kuyt, Suarez.

Subs: Gulacsi, Kyrgiakos, Wilson, Poulsen, Pacheco, Jovanovic, Ngog.

Gerrard and Agger are missing on the line-up, not even in the bench...

interesting line-up, seems like we back to 4-4-2...
