Don't get me wrong, folks... I'm sure this lens is sucky because it is heavier and way overkill than the 28-300 or 70-300 for this kind of usage. In good hands, I've no doubt the latter lenses can deliver crispier images than this! I'm just happy that with the 2x teleconv, the images are still acceptable (to me that is)...

No emo lah... just wanna assure everybody that I'm not trying show off how good the bamboo is. Frankly I believe for true birding/wildlife enthusiasts, there are other more affordable and much better options like the 150-500mm (as recommended by Akerue and DD), etc. But for those who want a bit more flexibility, I'd whole heartedly recommend the route I'm taking (I stress again for non-pro level). Shorter range (for long range portrait, plus indoor + night sports), plus 2x TC for added range... With the current image quality, I believe I'll be using the TC more often that predicted...

400mm on DX is 600mm...

Here's one right off the camera, no PP, no cropping, ISO at 800... But I didn't quite like the composition due to too many distracting elements...

Head a bit blurr due to it rapidly chomping off the flowers, but rear body sharper. Can see it's crooked front teeth... lolz

I kinda like this photo whereby the squirrel is looking at you. Kind of pity that a couple of leaves are in the way and the head is moving as well.

Don't worry, they look at you most of the times... which makes me wanna consider camouflaging myself the next time I go birding/squirrel shooting. :bsmilie: But would look ridiculously funny in places like Bot / Jap / Chi Gardens though.

Yesterday wasn't a good time as it was raining and drizzling most of the time... I was lucky for the one shot that I posted earlier (okay lah I woudn't call it great either), lighting condition was severely compromised for f/5.6 aperture... The rest of the image are just so-so in my opinion.

Bro - totally agreed.. my option is also "cheap".. use 80-200mm, Kenko 2x TC, cropped to about 10%-20% of original image and still can get reasonable shoots.

Bro... it's not that we aren't interested, look around you and most of us are already on Siruis, Manfrottos, Benros and even Gitzo(s)... :bsmilie: If you sell it much much much earlier when some are still considering poddies, you'll still have a better chance! As much as I hate to admit, the lot of us have already been poisoned deeply by these brands...

I was taken a-back during the fireworks shoot that all of us (within our group) are on Siruis (EVEN Jacobs whom I once thought was on Benro!) Look further than the bros, I noticed EVEN more Siruis on strangers nearby... :sweat: The power of internet and TK salesmen... :bsmilie:
