Bird signs at JG/CG

It's been some time since I went back to the two parks for birdwatching and I realised that there are new signboards put up introducing our local residents...so I just want to ask if the boards were placed the potential locations where these birds might be located? Or just some random locations??

I wanted to see the hornbills live today and waited around the area with the signboard....didn't see any birds there...only caught some Filipino lovebirds kissing under broad daylight :sweat::sweat:

Frequent visitors to these places maybe can share ur views on these signs?

If this is not allowed due to the violation of revealing the location of birds then please remove this thread...sorry

Actually they were all there waiting backstage. But no one called out to them to come out for the show. :bsmilie:

TS, for goodness sakes, these are live birds. They move around. They are not like your on-demand TV VOD.

ya just asking if the locations of the signs are the spots with higher chance to see those birds...since my guess is that they don't fly across the whole park(s) with uniform probability.

You could read up about their various habits (eating, resting) and way of live. Compare with the conditions around the sign. I have seen hornbills at Ubin without any sign nearby

u may want try japanese garden for your hornbill ... i gt my hornbill shots from there ... for no reason i tend to get more variety of birds from JG than CG ( that my opinion )

The signs put up at various locations by the management of the two gardens merely highlighted the higher probability of sighting the specified specie there as they have been spotted there before or most frequently. But like other CSnappers said, the birds have wings & they will fly to whichever spot(s) that have trees fruiting. Also even if the spots you visited have fruiting trees, your visit timing is important. Don't expect the birds to stay put until you arrive.They have to "tan chiak" also. The signs are also for info of general public & tourists other than birders to guide them so as to make their visit more interesting.
