Which brands and which models, and for what filter thread? :dunno: We can't read your mind you know.
Agreed with DD123 here, it is a piece of high-tech glass - cost will vary depending on size. Otherwise, we're just going to recommend the smallest and cheapest plus step-down adaptor ring...and then all the vignetting nightmare will come...
Frankly, while not trying to be blunt, most of the answers you seek can already be dug up from a simple google search (been there, done that) - you can even search for the filter thread size for your lens. OR.... simply take up a ruler and put it in front of your lens... Sorry for the sarcasm, but it is the hard truth, 77mm thread size IS 77mm as we all know it! :bsmilie: Unless of course you're searching for the lens you've not yet obtained - then yes, Gooo0ooo0ooo0oooo0oogle is your friend indeed.

Filter is cokin 77mm

Hoya, there are a lot different kinds of Hoya. Which series? Hoya double side, HMC, SMC, Pro1D, HD? Which one?
ND110 from Cokin? Cokin have ND110 meh? :think:
I won't recommend Steinzeiser. I'd go for the Hoya, although you've gotta tell us which Hoya? HMC? Pro 1D? HD?
More likely Black & White filters... (jokingly so of course, coz I mistakenly asked by that name...lol) Coz that's the only brand that I know calls it by that code.
I ask for cokin nd4 filter. Then he quote me nd110 price. So i thought is cokin. I went john 3:16. The guy who attend to me is not samuel. Some guy who does not really know abt filter. He keep asking other staff. Is there any recommended place to buy? I hope to get adaptor ring cpl etc together. I heard some forum recommend tk, but where is the place?
For filters, Go to Orient Photo, at 6th floor of Sim Lim Square. Look for Stanley. OP price quotes are quite reasonabe one.
CPL ask for Kenko Pro1D wideband CPL. Should be around $80-$85. I bought a 72mm there for $90.
If they are out of Kenko, get Hoya HMC CPL or Hoya Pro1D CPL
As for ND4 what are you looking for? Are you looking for slotted filters (square) or screw on?
TK Foto is on 2nd floor of Funan. Good for bags, Sirui tripods, or if you intend to get Hitech square filters.

daredevil, really appreciate your fast and prompt reply, and sharing ur knowledge. i went to funan john 3:16, simlim alanphoto and fareast some photo shop at the first level to ask abt filters price, what brands they sell. they are so many brands out there, steinzeiser, hoya, vitacon, etc... dont even know which brand to choose from and within the brand, which series. in the end bought nothing, afraid of being chop cabbage.
I know google is my best friend, but when comes to brands, which 1 more reliable, which one is more price worthy, which one is recommended, i think best is hear from the user themselves.

Hi DD, I've no idea how come the kenko cpl u mention is so ex, I saw a cpl which is selling in mass sales corner by memories is only at $30 for 67mm which I plan to coup on me 18-105. What's the major diff? Then extrA $50 can justify the diff? Thanks man
I think the hype is more on bw & hoya. Square filter is hitech lee for mild budget user n cokin tianya for people who doesn't want to spend alot
haha i think Cokin and Tianya is for budget concious newbie like me. I read it in another thread abt filters, Tianya filters works well with cokin. and most of the user seem fine with the combination. Though of course ppl will prefer higher grade filter and holders by Lee and Singhray
Hi. I am also looking for a filter system, Cokin to be exact... but in not sure which to get... THe P-Series or the Z-pro series.... Currently my lense is Tokina 11-16 for d90 and Nikon 16-35.
I notice that the tian ya(cheaper alternatives) only produces filter size for P-series... Can anybody help me on this?
Do i need the wide angle of the Z-pro series or P-series will do.

after reading and considering. the price factor of Lee kit doesnt seems to make me move my heart. ive no idea why but just that i dont find the price justify for a hobbyist like me unless its sort of a ricebowl thingy. anyway good luck hunting for cokin. keep us posted on the latest price man, ive checkout CP price for cokin p wide angle holder selling at $17 which is $2 more than what they used to sell couple of years back and it seems that the increment is due to the more demand thingy
correct me if im wrong, the Z series is no longer avail in SG market, cokin p wide angle will vignette at 11-12mm of tokina unless u want to stop down at 13mm.
I understand your worries. In that case, I guess you're being misled by someone who have no clear idea of what he's trying to sell you or merely a case of misinformation. Whichever it is, it doesn't matter. You can always do a bit of reading here on CS as well. I've obtained much information from the reviews and recommendations just by reading the what people posts here. If you're not sure about a particular brand, just type in that name in the search function on CS and it will reap you much results. If a particular brand deserves a bad-mouth reputation, you'll be sure that someone will voice it out here.

I agree with you.
While we always tout, the weakest piece of glass will be that cheap filter we put in front of our lens, some people may find it unreasonable (with reason!) to put a very expensive filter in front of cheap lens. I mean, sure, use that B+W filter with a $2000 lens will make sense rather than having spent $2000 on a piece of fine glass, then $20 cheap filter which will degrade the quality you can get from it.
On the other hand, $100 filter on a $250 kit lens is debatable. You have several options - use a lens hood and forget the filter entirely, or use a cheap filter... or you can also use that $100 filter on $250 kit. Everyone will have their own preference and it's not to sway you from one direction or another, but rather have you know the choices and implications, so that you can make an informed decision yourself.
To avoid vignetting you can get the UWA version of the adapter. It has only one slot, compared to 3 slots for the standard adapter.
Hi octarine, iirc the info I obtain from both dd & nm & Cathay photo is even the wide angle version will vignette at 11/12mm not unless modification / adjustment is done.
anyone can advice on this issue?
