lens calibration

im thinking of getting sigma 17-70mm for my kx.
is it true that all new lens needs to be send for lens calibration ?
or in wad situation need to send the lens for calibration ?
can someone enlighten me ?

hi,

calibration is when ur lens has some problem focusing.
eg. the lens either focus on the background rather than the foreground.

if you see most of ur pics are out of focus despite you are very sure that you had focused properly.... quite likely u need calibration.

there is a website that you can run some test on back focusing... (sorry too lazy to google for you)

Lens need to be calibrated only when it is front or back focusing... To determine if your lens' focusing is accurate, go to http://focustestchart.com/ to download the test chart. Do follow the instructions provided.
