But digital lens, then shoot models move here, move there, then die die must squint eyes and turn the focusing ring here and there to get a sharp picture. Then never get sharp picture, still want to act all mighty and super pro at what they are doing. :bsmilie:

Anyway you are right about me needing to learn more about manual focusing. Though i am not very good at it, as i can't even get a still object to be properly in focus, but once in a while i do MF when i really need to use it, like shooting IR and macro for example. If i get it to be in focus, honestly its always luck. :bsmilie: but for you to be able to do it on a runaway, wow that's really impressive as you know how fast the models can move up there. :thumbsup:

Obviously, I manual focus with my manual lenses 35 1.4, 58 1.4 and 135 2.8. How else to focus?
As for manual focusing with AF lenses, I do it for my 135 f/2 when I mount it on my FM2. haha.

With my manual lens, of course i manual focus too.. :bsmilie: i am referring digital lens to lenses that are built for Dslr that can be used with AF, not the legacy lenses. I do not know if there is any other term used for it. So just say digital and manual lens for easier reference. :bsmilie:
All lenses are the same. They use different types of glass and light still has to go thru this glass to image the sensor. Some use fingers to focus and some use different types of motors like micro, USM and HSM etc.. So what's a digital lens?
Okay... I focus my "digital lens" (although it was really made and designed before digital cameras got popular...) manually sometimes on my DSLR too.
When you have a wide aperture lens, you'll reckon that there'd be more light in and your DSLR will able to AF properly, but this is only true to a certain extent.
My 135 f/2 doesn't have any back nor front focusing issues in tests, but in practice, the AF is not accurate when I'm not careful or in some cases will just end up hunting... That's when I'll focus a "digital lens" manually on a DSLR.
It's just a matter of which works for the situation. I remember that the 180mm is also quirky in this sense but I don't have such problems with shorter lenses though.
Nothing made my human can focus better than God's creation. Manufacturer of fine lenses like Canon can also testify to my statement.
Take Canon 135mm f2 L lens for example, it allows you to manually to manually fine tune it focus, after the auto focus.

i only use mf when i really need to, just like i only use manual mode when i only need to.
walking around flourishing manual mode, manual focus, but not getting any good shots, no one will care. the pictures speak louder than anything else.

At the end of the day, use techniques which help you get your photos successfully. Why care about the 'whats' or 'whys' of others?
