Sony is the only major manufacturers still manufacturing reflex lens, albeit inherited from minolta. Will give a hollow ring bokeh. And I read that CA control is very good on reflex lens.

Can these lens af on K-7?

Can these lens af on K-7?

It is lighter and shorter than normal 500mm, usually comes in slower Apertures, and gives in donut shaped bokeh.

There's a kenko brand in Pentax mount, I thought somebody is selling it in BNS for quite sometime. Otherwise I think it is available in OP. :)

Must warn you newbies who are using a mirror lens for the first time... you will soon get tired of using it as compared to a better equivalent focal length normal/zoom lens.

After spending some time with these mirror lenses several years ago, I soon found out that even the better mirror lens leave you often frustrated with the IQ in many shooting conditions.

Hence, mirror lenses aren't for general birding or shooting... one must know when to use them and how to use them to obtain the best results from them.

Hi,
Can use for k7 and kx also K200D

Sony one made for Sony/Minolta so not applicable for pentax.
Kenko ..... It a M42 mount not direct K and the guy selling at CS is S$ 500 ?????

ebay on others brand only approx S$ 250 incl freight, not worth buying from that guy.

@Sircam
Wah..... Then must think twice lol. But due to budget constrain is there a better way to do it as I'm having a APO 70-300mm sigma DG now but too short in some case.

Thanks

Can try reading the comments in this thread: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=617447

Some (including me) have mentioned that if you really want decent results from mirror lenses, go only for the reputable brands like Sigma, Tamron and Tokina. They're probably all discontinued, but you may still be able to find them on eBay. They cost a bit more, but still very affordable. When I was searching all over the web for example pics taken by mirror lenses, the cheap ones all seem to produce fairly soft focus and terrible contrast.

You can try adding a teleconverter to your 70-300mm, but it's probably also going to be disappointing. I have tried using a cheap (<S$200) Kenko 1.5x TC with the Tamron 70-300mm, and I've decided not to do it again 'cos the IQ was too poor at 450mm.

Going above 300mm, saving money, and getting good image quality, I think you can only have 2 out of the 3. :) I chose the last two and stayed at 300mm max.

the output of contrast seems pretty bad across the board for mirror lenses.

i am always frequently tempted to try one, but i think it will just be a waste of money at least you can find a good version from reliable brand, like gengh says.

the lack of AF is also definitely a minus point for me.

But night86mare, you always make do with any lenses that you shoot with - and all your photos turn up pretty well. :bsmilie:

OK .... Thanx all Bros and Sis and Senior

Have great feedback. so I need to shut down my memory and erase all for this Mirror Reflex lens. Save $$$$ for a Bigma 50-500mm shall be the right move.

Hmmm... meantime I can only shoot at a maximum of 300 with a tripot and temporay live with it lol..

Thanks again everyone.
Cheers!!!!
