A British journalist was killed alongside a US marine in an attack on a military *convoy in Afghanistan in a blast that injured several other people, including a photographer.

The title says as if the journalist is planned to be killed..

the first are always the heros, the last...nobody remember. how many photogs and journalist were killed during the vietnam and iraq war ?

why were they there ? why not our journalist or photogs ?

........ why not our journalist or photogs ?

You are sad that our journalists and photogs have not been killed in the line of their work ? ........ during the Vietnam war 2 Singapore press photographers lost their lives. It is nothing to be proud of

Amongst others, they were honored and remembered in the commemerative book, "Requiem: By the Photographers Who Died in Vietnam and Indochina "

a bit puzzling ? nothing to be proud of or something to be proud of....killed during the tour of duty ...:dunno:

not too sure here...journalist covering war reportage is it regarded as part of the army, or were they being ranked ?

they are not regarded as part of any army and usually are on a strictly neutral basis. most do carry light arms for some self protection but thats all. usually both sides avoid shooting the photographer, yet when bullets are flying u cant really tell..

and if u want more details, can check out uncle Ian, the angmoh from hell. he was an ex war photographer/journalist i think. yet lately he dun seem too active anymore:think:
