Thanks for the re-confirmation. You are right that the saving of SGD800-900 could go towards a tripod (which I currently do not have).

May pick up a copy of 70-200 next month.

Regards,

no prob! :D . . . oh, if I were to nitpick and find something negative about the 70-200 f4 . . . it would be it's inability to auto-focus when using using teleconverters (only f2.8 versions can) . . . but manual focus would still work though . . . other than that, it's perfect!

My 7d + 17-55 f2.8 can't focus as well in high speed shooting mode........:( I tried single AF AI focus and AI servo.... all the picture are not in focus...

Gonna bring in for a checkup tomorrow......

Can other user with the similar setup try it out....

I tried low speed shooting mode.... doesn't focus as well..

Please made sure the lens switch onto AF mode, not MF mode.
If on MF mode , it mean manual focusing only. :)

hmm, im using the same setup as u.. 7D + 17-55.. no probs with high/low speed shooting modes..

im pretty sure his lens is set to AF mode, else he wouldn't even be able to select the AF (ie: ONE-SHOT, AI FOCUS, and AI SERVO) at all.

check with you, did you get your 7D from the 1st batch? . . . have your tried any other lenses with it? . . . seems like a number of people are having issues of inconsistency with it's AF, irregardless of the lens used . . . m thinking of upgrading, but i'm kinda being held back by that AF issue

Refer to your 7D manual Pg 211 for AF micro-adjustment.

Thanks Bro, my problem have been fix with custom manual setting Af speed is set faster and no more issues... BTW I updated my firmware from 1.0.7 to 1.0.9... maybe that helps too :D

Bro I dunno if my is the first batch... but it came with 1.0.7 firmware... I found out its due to setting that's why its pretty slow on the AI servo and AI focus mode....

After upgrading the firmware I tested the images and found that my problems are gone..........

:D

Now testing to see if there is a burn-in during high speed as issued by canon..

Bro no need to hold back your purchase BBB

prolly 1st batch i suppose? pre-ordered with MS and got it on day 1 of arrival. lol.

my other lenses namely 17-85 and 50 1.4 works well with it. so far, at least.

Just a random question: Anyone knows why the pop up flash of the 7D is so noisy when activated? Seems like the servos driving the 2 latches need to spin pretty hard.

Usually it's just a "snap" sound on the 50D/1000D. But the 7D feels like it whines and protests when you activate the pop up flash. :p

anyone uses a tamron 180 macro on the 7d? is the AF faster on 7d compared to other bodies? I believe the lens is faster in auto focusing on 1 series cameras, but not sure on 7d. Thank you for your reply.

Personal tested the demo set at vivocity with 18-135 kit lens.
It quiet responsive. on 7D. :)
Not enough fund to get 7D body yet.
Still saving........:p

My 7D after collected from CSC (changed the top cover due to some issues) was upgraded to 1.0.10 version seemed to have better AF....;)

can we AF while shooting video for the 7D??
if can... hows the performance?... heard D300s' is veery slow...

its quite slow i would say. using the AF Live (same for the AF Live used during live view, by detecting contrast in the scene)
it will hunt a little, then adjust bit by bit b4 it locks into focus. MF would be must faster and smoother, provided u perform it well.

Did a firmware upgrade from 1.0.7 to 1.1.0 on mine, now the AF seems to perform much better than before.
