Sigma / Tamron Buying Online and International Warranty

Hi, does anyone know if the respective lenses companies here will honour international warranty?

Thinking of buying online from websites like B&H and Adorama, the price will be more than $100+ cheaper after factoring in Shipping and even GST (which will likely be applied).

Anyone has bought any lenses from those shops before and care to share your experience (whether good or bad)?

Once I did wrote to JEL to enquire about the warranty if I bought any lens from oversea.
According to them they only accept international warranty and with a proof of purchase.

Tamron in USA provides 6yrs warranty.

bot a sigma lens from dubai before. sigma singapore honoured the warranty when i showed them the purchase receipt. in fact the lens is still with me....

Hi, are you sure about this? send email to them 3 days ago, never get reply... want to buy from US, but they only have US warranty... but If they are honouring US warranty, gonna get from US, since the price is 15% cheaper... (for the one that I want to buy)

But beware of the amount of info the shop may require you to provide for the purchase to go thru. For B&H they even go to the extent of asking for your ID & bank statment for 'verification purposes'

Is it true that Tamron's local set warranty is 3yrs as compared to 1yr non-local international warranty?
Anyone can verify this?

Hi guys,

For Sigma, confirmed with them that they will only honour warranty coverage if the warranty card has the Sigma stamp (1 yr international). In actual fact, if the warranty card is not from Sigma Singapore, all sets will be deemed as parallel imports with 1 yr coverage if Sigma stamp on card. For local sets, the warranty on card varies from 1 yr to 1+1 (extended on card with a "extended warranty stamp" with additional 6 months if you register within the first few days of purchase in APD website.

For Tamron, had different experiences, JEL typically give 3 yrs warranty for local sets distributed with their Tamron warranty cards with them as distributors (tamron lens from CP all carry 3 yrs). Had also bought 1 tamron lens with only 1 yr coverage (distributor name cannot remember starts with T).

For both tamron and sigma, had very good experiences with them, typically will repair locally if possible if not will send back to Japan, did a servicing for Tamron lens for AF and lens creep, turnaround within a month for a free trip to Japan!

i brought my ex-sigma len(bought from JB with receipt and warranty card with the distributor stamp...same distributor as sng) and i asked them if the warranty is honored.
they replied 'yes' and i had the len re-calibrated.
