Leaving for BangKok again in 2weeks time. Being there umpteen times but this is the 1st time bring Dslr cos i'm a newbie. so any recommendations pls feel free to drop me a list.

Any Advise on locations to take nice pics in Bangkok??

Although these have been photographed umpteen times and are always thronged with visitors, I believe if it is your first visit to BKK with your DSLR, you must re-visit these:
1. Wat Arun (across Chao Phaya river)
2. Wat Phrae Kheaw (Temple of the Emerald Buddha)
3. The Grand Palace
4 Wat Po (Temple of the Big Reclining Buddha)
5. Take a ferry along Chao Phaya to capture the sights on both banks of this river
... and if you can afford some time, get a taxi driver to drive you higher up north to:
6. Ayuthaya, the capital of the old kingdom.
Bringing a DSLR with a wide angle lens really gives you a totally new perspective to these old destinations.

Yah... this is a good one.:thumbsup: May I also add in, walk further down Ratchadamri Road across the bridge to Pratunam - lots of local markets there where the local Bangkok residents do their marketing. Also can see lot of sweat shops in the small back lanes (not dangerous) where the locals slog hard to tailor clothes ordered by tourists. Great place for Street photography too.
I would think a tele lens that can be racked up to 200mm would be lovely to capture the scenes here.

And if I may suggest, go down to Pat Pong at night just to shoot some night life scenes and test out your DSLR in low light conditions outdoors.

just to add on a few suggestn:
hi, you can take the river ferry, i think it's 12 baht from pier below sakphan taksin BTS station. then go to tha tien pier. this is good for wat arun, sunset and night scene is good here, you can eat at one of the restaurant here which has 2 levels, which has pretty good view. Or you can take a walk out to the main road and go backwards and you will find another small jetty which i think has a great wat arun view.
another place you can try if u have time is damnoen saduak flaoting market, I took a half day package about 1000bt, quite expensive i think. But this place is worth it. there's a relatively quiet place (less touristy, gotta walk right through the sheltered shopping cross a bridge and walk to another end). This has some an old charm, with traditional shops and the river is not congested.
some other nice bangkok place is the very popular erawan shrine (4 faced buddha), lotsa ppl pray here, nice spot to take pictures, either from the skytrain walkway (need a telephoto) or from inside the temple, day or night, it's just as crowded. it's in between chit lom and siam bts station.
